Our 7-year analysis of 504 patients suggests that the answer may be yes. Nephrolithiasis was present in 15.1% of patients, and when stones occurred, they were clinically significant: more than three-quarters presented with renal colic requiring emergency care, and over half required active intervention. Stone-formers showed a clear clustering of hyperuricemia, metabolic comorbidities, and inflammatory abnormalities, while none had a known familial predisposition to nephrolithiasis. The findings support a potential link between systemic psoriatic inflammation, metabolic dysfunction, altered uric-acid handling, and stone formation\u2014and suggest that urologists may need to think of psoriasis not simply as a dermatologic comorbidity, but as a potential systemic lithogenic risk phenotype<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Could psoriasis be a marker for an acquired stone-forming phenotype?
